The final payment for the service is made once your application has been officially filed with the National Directorate of Migration.
At that same moment your Provisional Residence is issued — the document certifying that your application has been filed and that you are already legally registered within the Paraguayan immigration process.

Do I need to stay in Paraguay while I wait for the resolution?
No. Once the in-person stages of the process are complete, you can return to your country or continue your travels. Our team will keep following up on your application and will notify you of every development until your Paraguayan ID card is ready.

What is the provisional residence?
The provisional residence is the document issued by the National Directorate of Migration certifying that your residency application has been filed and is being processed. This document shows that you are carrying out the immigration process in a regular manner while the authorities complete the corresponding assessment, and it constitutes the official proof that your process has already begun.
What is the difference between temporary and permanent residency?
Temporary residency authorizes a foreigner to live legally in Paraguay for a set period and, in many cases, is the first step toward permanent residency. Permanent residency, in turn, allows you to settle in the country indefinitely and offers greater stability for those who wish to develop personal, family or business projects in Paraguay.
